Health is so much more than calories in versus calories out. It’s about what you put into your body that’s just as important as how much.

If you feel like you’re forever on a diet, clean eating can really help you get off that merry-go-round and leave you with more energy, better digestion, improved sleep, glowing skin and hair.

What’s not to like?

1. Avoid caffeine.

In short, caffeine adds to anxiety, depletes the body of much needed magnesium and B vitamins, messes with energy levels and is dehydrating.

Try go without and see just how much more energy you have.

2. Enough with the processed foods

Generally speaking, most things that come out of a packet or box isn’t good for you. They tend to be full of additives and preservatives.

Look at the ingredients list – if you can’t pronounce it, don’t eat it.

3. Avoid fruit juices and soft drinks

Don’t drink your calories.  These are loaded with sugars and artificial sweeteners are provide little for you nutritionally.

4. Eat more greens

And reds, and purples and yellows. The more colourful the better.

Full of fibre and vitamins these help us feel fuller for longer, and help to fight against disease.

5. Back off the booze

Full of empty calories and lots of sugar, alcohol adds to weight gain, slows down the metabolism and places a burden on the liver.

Have at least 4-5 alcohol free nights per week.

6. Avoid added sugar

If you find you crave sugar, chances are your taste buds have become acclimatised to the excess sugar.

Avoid added sugar in your teas and coffees (which if you read point 1 above you should try to be cutting down on anyway).

And don’t forget sugar isn’t just in the sweet stuff like cakes and cookies, but in everyday items such as bread and pasta.
