Children’s nutrition and diet is of great importance, especially during the early years when they are growing and developing at a rapid pace. Correct nutrition will ensure they’re getting all the nutrients they need to support their body’s needs during the early stages of development.
Beyond a ‘healthy balanced diet’ there are specific nutritional factors that are of importance for the different developmental stages – from birth to weaning and toddlers to the adolescent growth spurt. Poor nutrition can affect brain development, bone strength, muscles and teeth, to name just a few.
Children with allergies and skin conditions such as eczema are on the rise. This can be controlled through diet.
Child obesity is also on the rise greatly affecting your child’s health – increasing the risk of diabetes, certain cancers and cardiovascular disease. Dealing with a child’s weight gain can be distressing for parents, as often you may not know how to tackle the issue, or you may not want to draw attention to the issue, creating further problems.
I understand that dealing with child’s weight loss is a sensitive subject, so I create a plan to working with the child and parents together, focusing on living healthier, enjoying sports and feeling happier. By including the entire family (where possible) helps to ensure the child does not feel isolated in this journey.
